Azrinaz Mazhar binti Hakim Mazhar (fondly known as Naz) was born on the 23th September 1979. She is the second child of Hakim Mazhar Mohd Johar and Fauziah Abdullah Mansoor.
Azrinaz started work as a broadcast journalist with Malaysian television channel TV3 (Malaysia) in 1997.
She won TV3’s "Most Promising Journalist" award in 2000 and received the MIIM Alumni Award in 2002.
She (26) quit TV3 and married one of the richest man in the world, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at a private ceremony attended by family members and close friends at the Istana Brunei in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and became the third wife of the king. She was conferred the title HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar.
She gave birth to Prince Abdul Wakeel at 12.43am on 1st June 2006. A 21-cannon salute was fired at the vicinity of the Istana Nurul Iman to celebrate the birth.
On 28 January 2008 at 4.21pm, she gave birth to Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.
Azrinaz was divorced by the Sultan of Brunei through a special announcement on 16 June 2010. Upon the announcement, her royal title, state decorations and medal of honour were withdrawn.
